Painted Rocks
Painting rocks happens to be one of our absolute favorite things to do. We love the idea of painting rocks as a camping craft. Or simply rock art and placing them around town as kindness rocks.
The truth is, that these rock rainbows will put smiles on people's faces. We love the idea of spreading love, kindness, joy, and HAPPINESS and if one stone painting can do it, bring it on!
We also have heart painted rocks and ladybug painted rocks and along with these rainbows rock painting ideas, then we are on our way to spreading all the HAPPY around all the towns.

Supplies Needed for Rainbows

- River rocks (make sure to choose rocks that are smooth and flat)
- Small detail craft paint brushes
- Clear acrylic sealer
- Craft paint tray
How To Create Rainbow Painted Rocks
Start by painting your rocks a bright and light color.
I picked light blue and yellow, so that the colors of the rainbow would pop! You may need two coats of paint.
Wait until one coat is completely dry before applying the second coat. Let dry completely, and then flip, and paint the other side.
Once the rocks are dry, you can begin painting your rainbow.
I started with red and then continued with orange, yellow, green, blue, and lastly, purple.
I then painted some cute little clouds with the white paint at the end of the rainbows.
You can do the traditional arched rainbow or just a half rainbow.
Viola, you have yourself the cutest rainbow-painted rocks EVER!
Remember rainbows are not only for St. Patrick's Day or for the month of March but are great at adding HAPPY all year long.
Use these cuties in celebration of National Pet Rock Day on September 1st.
Rock Painting FAQs
What kind of paint do you use on rocks?
Our preferred paint for rocks is acrylic paint. Its easily accessible and as long as you seal the rock painting after, your craft rocks will stand the test of time.
How do you seal painted rocks?
Seal your rock paintings and make sure they are safe from the outdoor elements and your rock art will remain intact. Any acrylic sealer will work, whether you paint it on or spray it. We prefer the spray as it is quick and easy to spray multiple rocks
