Male flowers show up first, while female flowers arrive about a week later. It's easy to distinguish between them - female flowers have a small round bump beneath the petals, resembling a tiny pumpkin, which is what they'll become!
Learning all the pumpkin vocabulary and having the ability to color the pictures of the life cycle really help in teaching the kids all about pumpkins
