    Pilots in Training

Kids have a natural fascination with airplanes, dreaming of flying high and exploring the skies just like real pilots. Crafting an airplane allows them to bring those dreams to life, offering a hands-on way to connect with their love for aviation.

Beyond the fun of creating, crafting activities are incredibly beneficial for children's development. They help improve fine motor skills, enhance hand-eye coordination, and encourage problem-solving as kids figure out how to assemble their creations.

Plus, crafting fosters creativity and imagination, giving children the freedom to design and personalize their own airplanes in endless ways.

How To Make a Paper Airplane Craft

Start by printing out the plane craft template at the bottom of the post. Cut out each of the pieces of the template as a stencil.

cut out airplane out of paper

Trace the body of the airplane onto a piece of colored paper and cut out. We chose red.

cut out airplane wings from paper

Trace out the two sets of wings onto another color of construction paper and cut them out. We chose blue for our airplane wings.

cut out windows from colored paper

Trace the cockpit window and two rectangle windows out of another color of craft paper. Cut each of the pieces out. We chose yellow for our airplane window color.

    glue windows on paper airplane

Glue the windows to the airplane body.

make two cuts in airplane for wings

Cut two slices out of the airplane longways. One for the larger wings and a smaller one for the smaller rear wings.

    slide wings through paper airplane

Slide the wings through the slits in the paper airplane craft. *If this is too complicated for your little crafter, you can always cut the wings in half and have them glue them to the outside of the airplane.

glue craft stick to back of paper airplane craft

The last step is to glue the wooden sticks to the back of the paper airplanes. I recommend large sticks as opposed to mini craft sticks as they give a bigger grip for little hands to play with the airplane in fun ways.
