    How to Make DIY Watermelon

    Paper Plate

Start with a plain white paper plate.

    paper plate cut in half

Cut the paper plate in half.

    line drawn around paper plate

Using your pen, draw a line around the base of the raised edge of plate.

color in border of paper plate in green

Paint the outer edge of the watermelon with green paint.

draw in line in darker green around edge of paper plate half

Then paint on lines of dark green around the outside of the plate approximately an inch apart.

color middle of paper plate in red

Paint the inside of the plate with red paint.

add black seed with marker to red middle

Then add black dots sporadically throughout the red section of the plate. You have a painted watermelon plate.

    green craft stick

The last piece of the watermelon craft is the popsicle stick. If you are using a color popsicle stick, grab the green one. If you only have a plain colored craft stick, then simply use a marker or paint and have them paint the craft stick green.

glue or tape popsicle stick to back of watermelon

Glue the popsicle stick to the back of your watermelon. When this is a watermelon craft for preschoolers, then using simple white glue will work and will need to dry for an hour or more. If the goal is to use this more as a fan, then you may want to glue the popsicle stick using hot glue. If that is the case, make sure there is adult supervision.
